[Writes on Blog]

*Taps Microphone*

I feel like I'm always saying ‘hello’ again.

After over a decade of writing on blogs and trying out different platforms, I’ve swung on opposite sides of the pendulum: I’ve shared everything, then shared nothing. Then back again.

Digital media has grown up and shown her true colors. Past the age of innocence {still visible in glimpses} of connection and authenticity, we have arrived at: This-Is-A-Great-Commodity Town, an opportunity for fame and fortune. [This might read incredibly critical, but it isn’t intended. It is understandable {even if some actions are not justifiable}. It is expected. It would have been silly not to monetize it.]

Studying Communications made me less of a public communicator and more aware of the privilege of privacy. We are giving our information and our attentions away for free. It is such a price to pay. And most don’t notice it. Because everyone’s on it. Because it’s fun. Because everyone’s on it. Because we’re addicted. Because everyone’s on it. Because ‘this is the new fame’. Because everyone’s on it. Because if we don’t upload it, it didn’t happen. Because everyone’s on it. Because we don’t want to sink into oblivion.

However, we could talk about a thousand reasons, and still I’d find my way back again. At the core, that’s what it is: the need to connect with other humans and serve as a reminder of the fact that human beings still exist: with ups and downs, without life-filters; in seed-stages, rather than trees. In reality.

And maybe it’s the beauty of the written word that makes this even more special: the interaction without distraction, the feeling of eternity linked to words that outlast mediums. It is a hopeful thing.

Read each other soon.
Sooner than you think.
{Oh, no, did I jinx it?}

Signed,
LY
