Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

*Tunes Céline Dion* And that’s the way it is.

Oops, I jinxed it.
Anyway, on to other news…

————————————

I oftentimes feel as if I’m living out a story that was intricately written a long, long time ago. Specific “random” details will happen in the moments when I need them the most. I’ll be walking towards a building thinking melancholy thoughts, and a truck will drive by blaring the right music. I have this category in my mind: things I couldn’t make up. Today was one of those days.

We’re undergoing —this is probably the right term, and it is not an exaggeration— kitchen renovations and the place is a mess. The chaos is not contained: there is dust everywhere and the areas around the kitchen are filled with the throw-up of plates, cutlery, and pans.

My sister and I were talking about a less-than-ideal situation as we waited for the food we ordered for lunch. It arrives. My sister sets it down and continues talking. I look at the bag. On it, someone at the restaurant had written my sister’s name and, instead of their usual kind “thank you for your purchase” message, they’d written: “Without rain, there are no flowers.”

It went so well with what we were talking about. {I won’t share it, but you’ll have to believe me}.

And now, remembering the kitchen, well, it was perfect for that, too. Today was a huge turnaround. It went from destruction to promise. I can envisage the end at this point, which is great news.

And isn’t that life? Don’t be afraid of whatever ‘mess’ you find yourself in the midst of. If this season of my life is anything to go by, you find yourself on fertile ground.

Signed,
LY
